The Opportunity

Randstad are partnering with an upper-tier civil contractor the known for their technical excellence and large-scale project delivery, they are currently seeking a seasoned professional to join their Thomastown team to cover a maternity leave period.

This is an opportunity to maintain your professional footprint in a top-tier environment while enjoying the flexibility of a 3-day work week.

Note: While this is a 3-month contract, there is a strong possibility of extension to 6 months based on project requirements.


Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with both pre-construction and delivery teams, providing precise data that ensures commercial success. Your core duties include:

  • Tender Support: Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs for new tenders; verify existing BOQ quantities against PDF drawings and CAD files to ensure high accuracy.

  • Variation Management: Perform IFC drawing take-offs, specifically identifying and quantifying variations from original tender documents.

  • Specialised Claims: Manage electrical quantity take-offs from final approved drawings to facilitate accurate claim submissions.

  • Pre-Contract Admin: Provide informational support during the tendering and pre-contract phases.

  • Risk Mitigation: Identify foreseeable issues during the take-off process and advise the engineering team accordingly.


The Ideal Profile

We are looking for a candidate who is as comfortable with complex CAD files as they are collaborating with a site team.

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Civil Construction sector (Subdivision experience is highly regarded).

  • Software Savvy: Intermediate to Advanced computer skills are essential. You should be proficient in modern estimating software and CAD tools.

  • Resilience: The ability to work under pressure and meet the tight deadlines synonymous with Tier-1 tendering.

  • Soft Skills: You are approachable, flexible, and a clear communicator who can work autonomously or as part of a larger project team.
